Hi everyone !
I’m using Nomad Sculpt with a xiaomi pad 5 with the (so called) smart pen (1st version). This app is basically incredible and works flawlessly on this tablet … except that the pen button gets in the way ><’
There are functions attached to the 2 buttons that I can’t get rid off (a quick note thingy and an incredibly useless screenshot editor). For now, my solution is … to not use the pen buttons at all. And that’s it.
But maybe you guys have any experience with Nomad Sculpt using Xiaomi Smart Pen ? Do you use any fix or 3rd party solution that will promote the use of the pen buttons ?
Thanks for your advices and your help
I have the exact same problem, wish I could find a way to solve it
Have tested the new Xiaomi pad 6s Pro in a store with Nomad (WebAssembly).
Via “bindings” I could reassign two of the three buttons to Nomad actions.
By default they are mapped to page up/down.
Have you tried that? Would really be a pity if Xiaomi did not provide support for remapping - have you written their support?
Would be great to find experiences with Xiaomi Pads and Nomad.
A bit late but here’s for a reply : I’ve just switched from a xiaomi pad 5 to the xiaomi pad 6s pro.
- The Xiaomi support is a lost cause on this specific issue : This tablet (pad 6s pro) use the 3rd stylus Xiaomi ever created (xiaomi smart pen 1 / xiaomi smart pen 2nd gen / xiaomi focus pen) and there is still no support for custom action. We can’t even decide which app to use, for that matter.
I’ve just find out about the “bindings” settings you referred to in Nomad settings.
Just for me to know, which actions did you setup for the 2 buttons that worked ?
Also, I’m searching for the “sculpt with stylus only” option ? I would like to use fingers to rotate/resize/etc and the stylus to sculpt, to prevent accidental sculpt when I’m rotating the model for example. I’m pretty sure this is possible but can’t find it …
Well… that’s up to you, what you want to have on the pen-buttons. I would toggle Add/Sub and smooth. Other choose differently. Play around what is best fitting for you. That’s how it is… And yes it takes some time to find your work style.
sculpt with stylus only: here’s my setting
But again: play around. It really depends - other use different options, there’s no need to argue.
Btw: On Android I always work with my micro controller with some bindings to the controller-buttons. But that’s me on Android. On my iPad I do not use my controller at all.
Xiaomi’s restrictions to freely customize the pen-buttons: that’s nasty - but Samsung does the same on the new Wacome One - 2 buttons, but only one is supported. Didn’t bother to root my device, as I am happy with my micro controller. And I hate programming… Xiaomi should really make it freely accessible…
Thank you Aszrael for your advices and help.
I’ve just tried your settings and it’s absolutely perfect for me. Exactly what I was looking for. I should still play around as you suggested but i doubt I will come up with anything better than that.
Buttons were mapped as add/sub [page up / button 1] and smooth (shortcut) [page down / button 2]. Strangely, there were no interferences in my test run from the silly xiaomi shortcuts, maybe an happy accident of sorts. Will see to that on a more intense session.
Thank you again
Well,… thanks for you feedback. But different workflows, always requires different settings. Just try around, no-one ever will gonna judge you for your mistakes…
Fu**… I’m really getting old…But: I’m happy to have helped you… It’s simple: just try around and find your way… And of course: post it! That’s the biggest part of the story. You might have time for it…
I hope others here will read it, too!. Still waiting, how shitty my hint was…
