Is 6GB of RAM enough for android device?

Hi, I am looking at getting an android tablet, but I am not sure what spec is required…?

I am thinking of getting something with 6GB? Will this be OK to use Nomad?

Yes, 6GB is ok.
But more is better .

Well… it will work, but 4GB RAM …
I really would look somewhere else.

You do not need OLED, s-pen or high end - if you know how to sculpt. So learn it!

On Android 8 GB is really low entry today, go for more - 12 GB, any mid-range: that’s enough. If possible any Samsung with digitizer - I do not like the s-pen, but the old Wacom One I love! Other options are available, too - but you need a f***ing Samsung… It’s Wacom licensed… So look out for a deal…

Currently, I sculpt on iPad 13" air (M2). Not because it has Quadremesher or the speed (laughing, compared to a real machine) - just for SD (AI renderings…)
I hate iOS… But well, also Android has it’s flaws… On train trips, vacations: I still prefer my good old 11" S7 (only 6 GB RAM) - but only with the cheap old Wacom One! Got used to it’s limits and you learn how to sculpt! You might also look out for the XP-tablet…
Only on the couch or in the bed: I use my air.

My recommendation: for sculpting: go for min 8 GB RAM + a decent pen (+ a 8bitDo micro - never without ). And: 16:9 screen ratio - split screen for reference on the side.

Only an opinion of an old guy… and be sure: others have different. But for you: really go for >= 8GB RAM…

To make it short: no - not enough RAM, sorry. Nomad will work - but really look for more RAM! If budget is an issue for you: 6GB is the minimum (they even sell lower spec devices today?) - as a beginner: go for 12 GB , 8 GB will work fine. And be sure: iPad+pencil pro is better (but far more expensive) - and you will easily struggle as well…

Pen: for sculpting you do not need a high performance pen. Not on an tablet - on a PC with +40m poly that’s different.
Focus on a decent one (we are on Android). Not perfect for drawings: Best: 2+ buttons.
However: with the micro 8bitdo I found a very good compromis (12 action to set ).

What shortcuts do you have set up on your 8BitDo Micro?

well - depends what I’m up to  I also have Uniform - so my mapping changes all the time. That the good part: absolutely freedom.
In general: I hold the 8bitdo in my left hand, with the cross (d-pad) up. so the shoulders pointing right.

The cross: move, clay, crease, and inflate. Top shoulder (big): smooth, (small): toggle sub/invert/etc. (<- only with s-pen - with Wacom One: I use the pen-button)
The star and 8bitdo: face group & face group relax
‘-’ and +: gizmo, hide
The buttons: ,,pinch, ***
Top shoulder (big): mask, (small): selmask

*** are other brushes - I change them, dependent on what I do; e.g. smooth all (custom), paint, alpha, select, hide, etc.

Keep in mind: I use tubes and painting rarely. Mostly just sculpting…
Intensity/radius: on Android I only do gestures - for some reason on my s7 it works better than on my ipad… here I always use the sliders…
