iPadOS 27 beta available memory drops to 5.33 GB on M4 iPad Pro 1TB (16 GB RAM)

Hi Stéphane, hi everyone,

Since updating to the iPadOS 27 beta, Nomad reports only 5.33 GB of available memory on my device. On iPadOS 26 I had significantly more. This is a big hit for my usual workflow.

Setup:

  • iPad Pro M4, 1 TB (so 16 GB RAM)
  • iPadOS 27 beta (24A5408d)
  • Nomad Sculpt 2.8 (latest App Store build)

Measured: 5.33 GB available on clear scène, right after a fresh reboot with no other app or window open.

What I already ruled out:

  • Full reboot, Nomad launched first, no other apps or windows open
  • Apple Intelligence and Siri fully disabled, followed by a reboot no change
  • Plenty of free storage on the device
  • Nomad is up to date

Questions:

  1. Is this consistent with what os_proc_available_memory() returns on your side under iPadOS 27, or does it look like the increased-memory-limit entitlement is no longer being granted?
  2. Can other 16 GB iPad owners (M4 Pro 1TB/2TB, or M2/M1 1TB) running the iPadOS 27 beta report the number they see? And ideally the number they had on iPadOS 26, for comparison.

I’m also filing this through Apple’s Feedback Assistant. Happy to run any test that would help narrow it down.

I’m not using iPadOS 27 beta, hopefully they will fix it.

Thanks, interesting to hear what they have to say.
Because if they release iPadOS 27 with this limitation, it’s going to be hell for me ahah.
