File becomes permanently laggy when doing any action (using brushes, undo, etc.)

THE PLATFORM: Windows 10
NOMAD APP VERSION: 2.9.24

Not entirely replicable yet, but have some suspicion that it has to do with alt-tabbing as it has happened a few times now. Mid project, suddenly all actions have major lag when doing anything to the model- i.e sculpting or undo/redo operations. This lag is a long “freeze” before the action is suddenly resolved, making further progress basically impossible with how unusable it becomes.

Restarting nomad, reopening the file, does not fix this issue. Restarting the PC does not fix this issue- it seems that the file itself has some sort of permanent problem now. However- creating a new file (without restarting nomad) shows that is is working smoothly. The band-aid solution thus far has simply been to make a new file and reimport the model into it to continue working, which works great again before the problem crops up again for mysterious reasons. This is the second time it has happened while working on this model, and I remember it occuring somewhat after an instance of alt-tabbing, but I’m not entirely sure.

Turning wintab on/off in the nomad home menu does not have any effect. It simply runs great until it decides not to. Video attached to show how it is isolated to the file. As this is ‘fixed’ by reimporting the model into a new file, the model itself does not have any issue either. It is also not caused by other background programs like browser/pureref, seeing as it’s perfectly fine the entire time until it suddenly breaks.

Hopefully that makes sense. Couldn’t quite find anything on the forum with the same issue as this, thus the report.

Will be fixed shortly.

I have a similar problem that I mentioned in another thread. I’m on Windows 11 and using an XP-Pen drawing tablet. My problem is a little worse. The pen cursor becomes laggy, but so does mouse movement and the whole system in general (opening/closing apps, etc).

I have to restart the computer to fix the system lag. I have tested and tried various fixes for weeks. This problem occurs only when using the tablet in Bluetooth mode, and only when using Nomad. I used a performance monitor and noticed that when the lag starts the FPS in Nomad drops considerably. Is it maybe something to do with polling rate, VSync, or the graphics card suddenly becoming throttled for some reason? It’s very strange it effects the whole system, never had something like this happen on my PC.

I haven’t found a fix, and will probably just resort to using the tablet wired after I try a few more things. Any idea what the problem could be? Do you think the fix you plan to release soon might help?

It’s a completely different issue.
Maybe try to disable vsync in the nomad menu?

When it happens, maybe open the debug “Logs” menu in Nomad to see if it there are error.
