Since the most recent update. I have substantial issues with lagging and freezes ultimately requiring aborting design and forcing shut downs.
Had no issues prior to updating.

I’m seeing the same to the point that it’s currently unusable…
I just bought Nomad Sculpt about a week ago and I’m having this lag as well. I’m using the PC desktop version and a XP-Pen Deco Pro Gen 2 tablet.
It seems to occur after using the app for a little while (5 minutes at least). I’ve tried a few fixes like disabling Windows Ink in the XP Pen settings, but no luck. At first I thought it was caused when doing several undo steps very quickly, but I just had it happen during quick successive brush strokes as well. I’m alt-tabbing a lot between Nomad and Firefox course videos, maybe that’s causing it?
The most annoying part is that it causes a system-wide lag once it happens. Closing down Nomad does not fix the lag. Task manager shows nothing abnormal performance wise after shutting down Nomad, but the system-wide PC lag persists. The only fix seems to be restarting the PC.
I’m not sure what is going on, never had something like this happen on my system before.
Should have mentioned, I’m using version 2.9.22
I will have to check tomorrow, but I haven’t changed the setting, so probably on Auto. Can you use Wintab on a non-Intuos tablet like an XP-Pen? I upgraded from an old Intuos 4, so un-installed the Wacom driver before installing the new XP-Pen tablet. Doesn’t uninstalling the Wacom driver also uninstall Wintab on the system?
I have tried with Windows Ink both on and off in the XP-Pen settings, but pretty sure I would eventually get the lag either way. So far, Nomad is the only program where the lag begins. I put Affinity and Blender through some tests, but hasn’t happened there so far.
By the way, is it generally recommended to have Windows Ink on or off for Nomad and other art programs?
Usually auto is fine. Wintab off is preferred but it depends on the tablet.
In any case it should be sync with your xp-pen setting panel (windows ink → wintab off)
Also check the log at the bottom of Nomad, maybe there are errors if it’s a gpu thing.
Well I checked the log on startup and it seems Wintab was being loaded regardless of if Windows Ink was on or off in the XP-Pen settings. Turning Wintab off in Nomad, I get much better pressure sensitivity than I was before. I’m not sure it has fixed the lag yet, have to do some testing and will let you know soon.
It seems that either Windows Ink or Wintab has to be on? I tried turning them both off and got no pressure sensitivity.
Are there recommended settings for Windows Ink in the Windows settings? I’ve tried disabling everything I could, but I have to enable the two options in the attached image. If I turn those off I lose right-click menu in Windows and browser page scrolling with the pen. Do those options cause any conflicts with apps like Nomad?
If wintab is ON in xp-pen then wintab should be on in Nomad.
Otherwise if it’s off in xp-pen it should be off in Nomad as well.
My lag / crash was on iPad only. There hasn’t been an update to the TestFlight yet so not sure if it’s fixed

No lag or freezing recently that I can see but I haven’t had chance to spend much time in Nomad recently
There is no option to use Wintab in the XP-Pen tablet settings, just an option to toggle Windows Ink on or off. Nomad set to Auto was using Wintab no matter what my Windows Ink settings were in XP-Pen.
Enabling Windows Ink in XP-Pen and disabling Wintab in Nomad gave me a much better pen experience. I need to give it a few more days to be sure, but I had no lag yesterday. It seems like it was possibly both Wintab and Windows Ink being on at the same time that was the issue.

But that’s the same thing (or rather the opposite):
- Windows ink ON → wintab OFF
- Windows ink OFF → wintab ON
Ah OK, I figured Wintab was only a system wide thing with Wacom tablets, otherwise it was something you just turned on in certain apps that had options for it (like Nomad).
Not sure why the Nomad Auto option was leaving Wintab on even with Windows Ink on.
Well the lag happened again today, this time while messing around with settings. I’m baffled as to why the lag would persist for my entire system, even after shutting down Nomad.
Could it have something to do with V-Sync being on in Nomad, or maybe because I’m using my tablet in Bluetooth mode? The lag persists even after turning the tablet off though. Restarting my system is the only thing that fixes it.
Attached is a log, but not sure it will be much help, Nomad doesn’t seem to log much.

Apps don’t have the capability to inspect xp pen or wacom settings, that is not how it works.
Auto means it will try to use both and try to keep the one that works better.
Likely not, I’m a bit skeptical Nomad is the cause honestly if it persists after killing it…
Why don’t you open task manager and check which process is causing the issue? (The one using ton of ram or using ton of gpu or cpu)
That’s what is making it really hard to pinpoint. I checked task manager when it happened and system resources were normal with Nomad and Firefox using a small amount. Closing those two and with no apps running, system resources are still normal for my system. I don’t see anything using unusually high CPU, GPU, or disk usage.
I can’t say for certain that Nomad is triggering the problem, but so far it has been Nomad every time. I’ll try messing around with turning off various Windows Ink settings and see if any make a difference.
