Nomad Sculpt is Crashing PC

THE PLATFORM: Windows
NOMAD APP VERSION: 2.9.3

While using Nomad Some glitch happens and the entire pc gets very laggy. Not slow but its like 1frams per 10 sec. If i click any button in nomad or even any action in pc like pressing the window button to open the start menu will take 30 to 40sec. Even closing nomad is not fixing this and i have to restart the pc. This happened twice and I was not able to replicate the error intentionally.

The scene is also not very heavy. I was learning how to use the nomad sculpt with the default rounded cube. This is a serious issue as when this happens even restarting the pc is hard as everything is slow.

Okay I was actually able to replicate this error. Sorry for the awkward video angle i recorded. I was recording this footage alone I remembered this crash happened while i was using the ctrl + shift key for tool. So while using the hide tool either deleting the face or quickly inverting what is visible is causing. As you can see in the video not just Nomad sculpt but the entire pc was crashed. I have to hard reboot my pc. Please fix this issue and release a patch addressing this as its not just Nomad but the entire pc is at risk because of this bug.

Also want to mention just in case, I have a decent powerful pc, I7 14th gen, RTX4070, 32gig ram & the main disk is a SSD. The video is quite long. The error around 40seconds into the video. Before that i was just quickly hiding and unhiding the mesh.

Yeah it’s bad, thanks for the video.
I’m trying to replicate the issue but so far failed, I’ll try later on windows.
I’m not sure exactly what triggers the freeze (ctrl/alt, invert, delete hidden, etc).

Yeah it’s hard to replicate, that’s why even in the video it took some time. But it’s something have to do with the Ctrl+Shift key. If it’s just a nomad sculpt crash i dont mind testing more to replicate and pin down the issue. But because it’s crashing the whole pc i dont want to replicate this often.

Do you have a crash.log file in your Nomad folder?
Either in:

  • installation folder (program files)
  • the nomad user folder (path shown in about menu, top left corner with nomad icon)

Since it freezes, there might be no file though…

Hi Stéphane, Do you mean the marked folder..?? I dont see any crash log in there.

I also checked in the installation folder. I dont see a crash.log

Are you on windows 10 or 11?

@stephomi I’m on windows 11
