Why no Mac version still, in mid-2024?

Next is desktop.

My little heart can hardly contain itself. I’m the guy who keeps posting stress tests to the Facebook group, so I’m super curious to see what Nomad can do with 96GB of system memory. I don’t think it’s performance limited on an iPad mini 7, but RAM limited.

This has me so hyped. I can’t wait to see how it comes along. I’m sure it’s going to have its own hurdles, but it’s going to be awesome.

Same, I definitely wouldn’t mind paying $100 for it.

I will not be one to push Stephane into releasing Desktop Nomad until he alone is ready to unveil it.

I WILL though, pledge to help by testing it on the devices I have available to me:

Intel i5 NUC: This micro PC has strictly been used for 3D Print supports and the rare occasion I need to do something in Win 10. Will be interesting to see if this meets the minimal requirements.

2020 16” MacBook Pro: Intel i9 chip with an 8GB VRAM ATI on the latest macOS Sequoia.

M4 Mac mini: Was originally planning to hold off til the 2026 MacBook Pro refresh, but the value proposition for the base Mac mini was just too tempting as the first foray into desktop Apple Silicon. This level of power for less than half the cost of an iPhone Pro?? It’s got the power to drive a 49” UltraWide Curved Samsung while editing 4K 10-bit RAW video. 16GB RAM, 2TB DIY SSD upgrade, Intuos Pro Medium.

If I had to build up a Nomad Pro  features wishlist…

  • Frictionless transfer of something sculpted on iPad instantly available on the Desktop version (GoZ of sorts?) and vice-versa?
  • More fleshed-out turntable options and controls (ie, stop recording at completed revolution loop 359º, 719º, etc)
  • Unrestricted floating palette size for brushes or an organizational system to wrangle the collection. Will be quite refreshing to spread out the palettes outside the sculpting canvas.

Let’s hear about the other desktops Nomad Pro will be pitted against.

People definitely care about Windows too. Surface might make that more important than a Mac version, due to the native pen support.
