Trouble Importing OBJ Files with Vertex Colors into Nomad Sculpt

Hello everyone :sunglasses:

I’ve been thoroughly enjoying my time with Nomad Sculpt and its powerful sculpting capabilities. However, I’ve run into a problem that’s proving to be quite a headache, and I’m hoping someone here can help me out.

When I import OBJ files that include vertex color information, the colors don’t seem to come through. The models load just fine, but they’re devoid of any of the color data. This is quite puzzling because I’ve confirmed that the OBJ files are correctly exported with vertex colors—they open perfectly in other applications like Blender and MeshLab, with all the color data intact.

Here are the steps I typically follow:

  • Export the OBJ file from Blender, ensuring vertex colors are included.
  • Import the OBJ file into Nomad Sculpt using the standard import procedure.

I came across to this resources/article Nomad Sculpt - 3D Objects with texture from photo / image aws devops - vertex baking (V1.66 -2.10.2022) Community Framework, and as per them I need to simplify my queries to reduce their complexity, or wait for the budget to reset before retrying the query.

Has anyone else experienced this issue, or is there a specific workflow in Nomad Sculpt that I might be missing? If this is a known bug, is there any planned fix or workaround available? Any suggestions or insights would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you so much for your assistance!

Make sure to be on the latest blender.

Try to re-import the file in blender to see if the colors were correctly exported.
It should work fine.

Note that blender changed the way they export colors, so right now the colors will be off in Nomad.
For now you can fix this issue by selecting Linear here:
