It’d be nice to be able to restrict strokes to x,y or z axis to get linear strokes. And perhaps a “stroke along path” feature could be useful?

Yes, stroke as a line of two points or many points.
Upvoting for this.
I still the the polygon, square, circle etc. function as part of stroke menu available for any tool.
If they can lock to an axis/grid, the better it is.

Yup straighten your stroke can be really useful in hardsurface workflow.

I am repeating myself, but never forget good old physical ruler meanwhile.
Use a soft and transparent one. It will help you through time till this will be available. Promised.
