Multi Resolution and fine details

Hello,

I’m new on the forum and already searched a solution to my problem before posting this topic, so here is my issue :

I sculpted a model, now that i have my global shape with the most important details sculpted, i made a voxel remesh then decimate the model to have a lower polycount while keeping a good quality ( for 3d print 15 mm to 32 mm scale ).

I work on an ipad 9 with 8 GO RAM bur nomad allocate for its utilisation only 1,5 GO.

The issue i encounter is that after i decimate my model to a good polysize / appearance / weight ratio for 3d printing i would like to add some high end ultra fine details on some areas of the sculpt ( texture, alpha stamps, depth maps to give more life to my model ) but during the multiresolution process i can’t go more than 2 subdivision ( approximately 9 millions polygons ) and that ratio don’t give me good details with the alphas i try to apply.

I would like to go for more subdivision and apply very fine and nice details but it’s impossible, the 1,5 Go of RAM allocated goes full and it crashes.

I would like to apply for example subdivision levels to only a little area of my model where i want to apply the alphas but i don’t know if it is possible ?

Or if someone else has another idea for my problem, i take it  !

Thank you in adavnce.

Olivier.

The iPad 9 only has 3GB, and typically 1GB is reserved for iOS.

Instead of going up to 9M, go back to a lower resolution instead and use dynamic topology for finer details Topology | Nomad

OK thank you @stephomi i will try this method with higher value on dynamic topology and give you some feedback as soon as possible

Thank you for the reactivity !

Ok thank you it worked, dyntopo up and fine detailing is possible, topic is closed !
