The Crab Sheperd
Cool bust! I just wanted to drop in and say thanks for your courses. I took your Affinity course in the past and currently working through your Nomad course (the pumpkin project was great, starting the anglerfish soon). You are by far the best instructor I’ve had on Udemy (courses on there can be very hit or miss)! You have any plans to update the course showcasing some of the amazing new stuff in version 2.9?
Thanks for the kind words! I’m planning on waiting until 2.9 becomes available on the iPad before I explain anything new so it’s consistent across platforms.
I’m planning on further courses, but before I do I’m working on an ‘art’ studio for Nomad which has things like various textures, materials and paints that can be combined in a semi modular way. So for example, instead of having gold, old gold, tarnished gold, shiny gold etc. as seperate items, you can paint gold, then tarnish it in a number of ways, or ripple it in a number of ways. That way you can have, say, 15 base metals multiplied by 5 tarnish brushes multiplied by 5 metal texture brushes. All of which can be applied in various strengths & opacities.
I feel this makes for a much more flexible system, rather than hundreds of separate items which you can get lost in. & of course I’ll be doing explainer videos about how to use the system.
I’ve posted a screenshot on the feature request forum where I’m asking about locking icons plus curves in the Stroke Painting panel. You can see one of the modular panels I’ve created plus various skin, vein, blemish & scar textures from the studio on an orc head.
Sorry! You got more than you asked for. I’m just excited about how the studio is developing.
Cheers, Simon
Neat idea, looking forward to it.
Gnarly!
