Could some one PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do a tutorial on depth filtering, I’m having trouble painting in deep crevices
I think we all have this issue.
Behavior changed on 2.9, there was issues with some settings (bottom area if I recall)
I’ve found it works best at higher values (90-100, usually 93-95) with a medium sized brush (around 70 or so) and zoomed in decently on the mesh portion that you’re working on. Higher strength on the paint brush is fine (100 or more at times). This still seems to work fine with any version for me (including 2.9). It all depends on the effect you’re looking for.
Also, if it isn’t coming out enough, just zoom out slightly. Beats having to change the values.
What is depth filtering?
It allows for painting in cracks and crevices much faster without having to zoom in with a tiny brush and slowly painting everything by hand. Or the inverse, you can paint the higher bumps without disturbing the color of the creases between them one at a time.
ah, ok. thanks : )
Where do you access it? I’ve looked and looked…
Depends on which side that part of your menu is. Might be easier to take a quick snapshot. It’s under filter and all the way at the bottom.
I’m embarrassed to admit I wasn’t even aware of this part of the app ![]()
Thanks for the info.
I’ve been using Nomad since fairly near the beginning and I still don’t come close to using all the features he’s added. There’s a lot that I’d have trouble finding. This just happens to be one of the few I use regularly so I know exactly where it is…lol.
