3d printing via iPad

Hello,

Is there a way to slice and prepare my model for 3d printing on the Elegoo Saturn 4 Ultra using only an iPad or is a pc or laptop the only way?

Howdy. I did a quick online search and the Pikaslice app appears to work with Elegoo printers. Good luck!

I only went so far as downloading Pikaslice in the App Store when it was initially released and halted just as abruptly when seeing there was no one-time “lifetime” payoff — just subscription ($4/mo or $36 yearly)

I can say that I understand the need to go this route given the relatively tiny cross section of iPad users who want to slice 3D files for resin printing. Doesn’t mean I’m gung-ho about supporting it tho’. After a few years of incinerating that subscription money, I’d be kicking myself for not putting that toward an inexpensive NUC PC or even any cheap, used notebook that’d let you have your pick of slicers available. I’ve had an Intel i5 NUC as a dedicated slicing workstation next to my printers for years now. Such a lowly CPU is still capable of slicing/supporting the files DropBoxed into it.

Anycubic, Longer, EPAX, Elegoo and most of the me-too resin printers in this group ALL apparently sourced their internal “motherboard” from ChiTuBox. It explained why ChiTuBox was the common software they all initially used. The third-party Lychee slicer came out and charged a subscription. This encouraged ChiTuBox to release a “Pro” variant requiring a subscription.

Elegoo has matured enough to finally start offering their own slicer called “SatelLite”. Kinda feels like this is their way of avoiding being beholden to ChiTuBox. A video preview showed it has some good, promising features and the lattice-work supports look way nicer than what my crunky old ChiTuBox slicer generated. It seems to cover printer models going back to the original Mars! Only downside is that it’s WindowsPC-only the last time I checked.

The point of all the above is to say that it’s HIGH TIME Elegoo comes out with their own complimentary software custom-developed for their lineup of machines. I would HOPE they continue to get a barrage of requests for finishing a MacOS version of “SatelLite” because that might lead to a tiny chance they’ll take advantage of the Apple development tools that make it relatively straightforward toward creating an iPadOS version. (Just like Serif/Affinity. Just like Octane Renderer) If that comes to fruition, there’s no reason it shouldn’t have most of the features currently touted in SatelLite: vast resin settings library, sending models wirelessly to WiFi enabled printers, monitoring/timelapse of built-in cameras, etc

Thanks!

I had no idea that NUCs / mini PCs even existed…. I think I might go that route to simplify things… looks like I can get one with 16 RAM for 100 bucks

Thanks again :call_me_hand::sunglasses:
