Zbrush Matcaps into Nomad Sculpt

Hi,

Is there any way I can import my Zbrush matcaps into Nomad Sculpt? Any advice or recommendations are sincerely appreciated.

Thanks!

A matcap is simply an image, but zbrush is using its own proprietary format ZMT.

I don’t know much about zbrush so not sure what is the best way to extract a simple png/jpg image from it.

You can find download packs on the web (https://www.deviantart.com/sespider/art/163-FREE-MatCaps-258893793), not sure how legal it is though, but it’s been there for a while.

Thanks for the reply!

I also found a workaround and am sharing it here for anyone interested.

  1. Your desired matcap in Zbrush.
  2. Under materials>modifiers click create matcap texture.
  3. In the texture tab on the right click on the blank image and select the matcap image you created.
  4. In the texture tab at the top export it as a tiff.
  5. Look online for a tiff to png coverter and convert the file.
  6. Import the png into Nomad.

Hope this is helpful to somebody else : )
