As someone who is rather tech savvy I find the Jargon entirely excessive. Pls allow us to rename stuff as we see fit. I’d like to rename mask to isolate, and Gizmo to gyroscope. I’d just like to get rid of the industry standard Jargon that doesn’t even come close to accurately describing the tools function. My OCD needs this to make this app enjoyable. Please help me help myself, that all I ask, thanks.

Sounds good in theory, but in practice I can already imagine about a hundred scenarios where that just wouldn’t be too great. Especially for new users that have questions. Imagine having to describe what icon they have to press because they can’t find it by name because they thought it would be fun to change the name to something no one else would consider.

Just clone the Tool you want to rename - then rename the clone.

Then move the default tool with the name you don’t want in a tool sub folder - so you can’t see it anymore.

But it’s not really a good idea to give the tools their own names.

The problem is. . . . . wait for it. . . . . a Gizmo is NOT a “gryroscope”. Gizmo is pretty much, as you mentioned an industry standard. So there you will be, trying to talk about your “gyroscope” and everyone else will wonder what software you are running. It is nice to live in a world where a “gizmo” cannot transition into a “gyroscrope”.

Why would i care for others using my ?

That doesn’t change references though. if i clone mask and rename the tool it wont update elsewhere in the UI. this is why i wrote my initial post as I did. i didn’t ask to remame Only tools i said “ things as i see fit” that means everything!

Just because it has transform Functions added doesn’t make the gizmo not a gyroscope. they never should have been combined al all. accidental scaling is already an issue.

reset to defaut … but honestly who cares? its my problem if renaming Causes me an issue.

You obviously do not actually KNOW what a gyroscope is, so for your edification:

gyro·scope

[ˈdʒʌɪrəskəʊp]

noun

gyroscope (noun)

gyroscopes (plural noun)

  1. a device consisting of a wheel or disc mounted so that it can spin rapidly about an axis which is itself free to alter in direction. The orientation of the axis is not affected by tilting of the mounting, so gyroscopes can be used to provide stability or maintain a reference direction in navigation systems, automatic pilots, and stabilizers.

I don’t think you’re looking at the bigger picture. Sure, if you have an issue, it’s your problem. But the second you post about the issue you’re having in the forum, you’re now involving others who willingly give their time (for free) to help. You’re then making it much harder to help you and wasting peoples time because you chose to change industry standard naming. You get more frustrated, people trying to help get more frustrated. It becomes a mess and very wasteful.

Now, if everyone is able to change everything all willy-nilly like, think about how impossibly hard it becomes to help people when they have issues.
