Tube that wraps automatically around a rounded object

I know, this is a zBrush Feature, but one I liked: A brush, that wraps automatically around an object in a certain orbit. It is great for belts, ribbons and such a thing. Maybe the Tube-Tool could do it?

I am looking for a way to do this myself. Trying to make shoelaces

I’m trying to figure out snapping to an objects surface but have not found anything as of yet…

I just found this, may help? : https://youtu.be/VfzF-3JT90M?t=186

Actually, this works but the moment I edit it, eg altering the radius it doesn’t ‘'stick’…

Have you tried changing the snap radius? And as for my suggestion: Yes, the tube tool is great and can do a lot. But if you want to create a tube around an object, for example a chain around a neck or something similar, it always ends up a bit messy because you have to set the points by hand. It would be great if a circular tube tool could be placed around an object. I’m not a programmer. But maybe it could be a kind of submenu of the tube tool that creates a circular shape that then snaps around the surface…

If you go to the insert menu, I think the answer lies in the ‘Repeaters’ menu. I can distribute objects over the surface using the Radial option and it works very well. not sure still how to ‘wrap’ an unbroken strip around a sphere yet.

Thais it… The Repeater works very well, I love to use it.

: )

There is also using the project tool? TO make a shoelace on a shoe would be perfect. would follow the contour perfectly I think. I’ll try this in a bit. All those repeaters are great to use.

OK, so this is where I got to. It’s a bit rough but in is almost perfect for what I want to do. This is using the project tool to project a rectangle onto a curved surface.:

Have a look at this tutorial: https://youtu.be/GqW6JLdsxs4

It took me about three watches until I could figure out what he was doing

:joy: — no worries. You watched the video three times to get a general understanding. I went through hundreds of attempts to figure out how to do it. (ProcreateFx).

However, I didn’t adjust the geometry before hand so I guess you have to do all that and scaling etc before performing the projection. You can still sculpt it I think… Thanks again, I subbed your channel @Holger. Some tasty vids on there : )
