A question about Triplanar.
Can I put a photo on Triplanar and Triplanar takes over the photo?
Or do I have to put the photo as background and trace everything?

It’s not possible for now, however you can use an alpha with the mask tool with a drag stroke type.
You probably want to change the falloff to « one » as well.
Note that for the next release the SelMask tool will be available for Triplanar as well.

This procedure is enough for me for now.
But I agree that the SelMask should be installed.
