Split is very limiting, especially since hidden parts of the sculpt still get affected by the split.
Is it possible to split by face colors instead? Those have much more tools to define a border than the split tool.

You can split by mask right now. Which means you can also split by face group (face color?).
Thanks, I see that in the manual now, but I don’t understand how to use it in the app.
However, I also see that I get a shell, which I guess I can understand why, but that means I’ll probably do an export/import dance to Blender instead to get two watertight meshes.
When using the Mask tool, you can select to mask by face group. Tap a face group and it will mask the whole face group.
In the Mask settings, set the thickness to zero. Choose the closing action you want: None, Fill, Shell.
You can do it without the shell by choosing None or Fill. It sounds like you want it watertight so I would choose Fill.
Then click the Split button.
Now you should have two parts.
Thank you for the detailed information!
Surprisingly complicated procedure in an otherwise super slick and intuitive app.
In the scene menu you can split the mesh into several by using face group (« … » menu on the mesh line).
It’s a simple split though no offset/watertight.
