Series Pitch Artwork

Nomad continues to amaze me. I’ve been attempting to get some of my 2D character work for an animated series pitch into 3D for a while now and paid a few artists but it just wasn’t right. Character work is difficult - in any medium. Capturing a personality is 100% feel. I used to paint portraiture and it’s just not successful unless I can see someone there - and there’s a wonderful point during a workflow when you suddenly can see them looking back at you and you think, “oh, there she is.” After a ton of back and forth between Procreate and Nomad and matcap experimentation and post processing magic, I think I’ve finally gotten my first character successfully translated into 3D.
The model is a little janky in places since I was after a sketchier look and I will clean it up later if I need it for anything major. But for a “sample” pitch piece, I think it really knocked the 2D artwork out of the park. And with Nomad’s UI and how Stephane keeps upgrading the app into the most incredible experience ever - I was able to get my character where I wanted it without any fancy rendering engines or pro pipe software. Super happy. Just wanted to share and thank Stephane.
First image is the final pitch work, and then a few other shots;

and the last is the 2D portrait from which I created her.
