Hi
I just started creating 3d molds for plaster or concrete
The process is easily done by Meshmixer.
I use edit/solid and then offset by 4mm. A new object is created.
Then I use Tinkercad to make the original invisible and join, and now I have a mold
I wish I could use Nomadsculpt on my tablet for the whole process
I miss
- Adding offset to original object
- Aligning two objects
Where ZBrush’s process would’ve been an Extrude, Nomad’s global Inflate is a workable alternative.
Trimmed comparison shows the results

Do you have to join the layer before the boolean?
You can also Mask and then extract the mask. I find this easier because it has a distance setting rather than a percent setting.
Suspected Mask Extract was somewhere in there, but only gave myself 2 minutes to find it!
All things being equal, I still prefer how Global Inflate (pink) handles sharp edges over what Mask Extract’s Thickness (blue) does…
Haven’t yet tested either on an actual head sculpt tho’
not sure about it, I need to inflate the whole object, so it contains fully the original one
No, I meant join by using Boolean. No need to join before.
