Light scale affect specular size?

The new scale option for lights is a more intuitive, physically correct(ish) way to control shadow softness. Could it also affect how big specular highlghts look? Eg I’m trying to get nice highlights in eyes, but if keep the eye roughness low, the specular highlight is very small. You can increase intensity, but that starts to add too much diffuse, and the eye becomes too well lit. You can increase roughness on the surface, or reflectivity in the material, but they can introduce other artifacts.

It just occurred to me ‘oh, maybe the new size control will met me artificailly increase the apparent size of the light in reflective surfaces?’, but it doesn’t.
