Is low poly modeling always buggy like this?

So I’m trying to create an anchor. I built the polygons little by little by doing mask extractions and then joined them.

At first, things went smooth. But the more polygons added, the slower it started to get.

Now when I tried to extract the masked area, it no longer showed me the preview when I scrolled the height bar right and left. And when I clicked Extract, the whole app froze and I couldn’t click anything. I gotta wait for an abnormal long time till the app was able to extract the mask.

I thought low poly modeling is supposed to be faster and smoother than high poly, but it’s the opposite for my case.

Maybe check your facegroups - when you join / extract etc. again and again then the facegroups sometimes grow way too much and slow things down.
And it’s best to delete the UVs if there are any.

Improve your work flow , an anchor should not take so much topology
