I have recently purchased and activated the licensed version of Nomad Sculpt on my iPad. I am still a beginner and learning the workflow.
I imported an .OBJ file into a new scene successfully, and the imported model is visible. However, when I try to add a primitive (such as a sphere, cube, or any base mesh) from the Add menu, the newly added primitive is not visible in the viewport, or sometimes only a very small part of it appears.
Because of this, I am unable to add new meshes to my imported model and start sculpting properly.
I would really appreciate your guidance on:
Why newly added primitives are not visible after importing an OBJ file
Whether this is related to scale, position, scene size, camera, or transform settings
How to correctly add and align new meshes with an imported model for sculpting
If there are any recommended steps or settings to follow after importing an OBJ file, please let me know.
Thank you very much for your time and support.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
An imported OBJ file is often much, much larger than Nomad Sculpt’s default primitives. In Nomad Sculpt, a sphere is roughly about 1 mm in size. So if you import a model that was created at real-world scale, the scaling will obviously be off.
After importing the object, you usually need to scale it down using the Gizmo—sometimes by a factor of 10 to 20 or more. This isn’t an issue with Nomad Sculpt itself; it’s simply how many OBJ files are set up, as they often come in at a much larger scale.
Another common reason is that the object isn’t imported centered at the origin. In the Matrix menu, there’s an option called Move Origin, and combined with the Gizmo, you can properly reposition and scale the object down to the correct size.
