So I don’t know if there is a way to enable this across all meshes with a specific brush, but I do find it pretty frustrating to be working on a mesh in a scene and then select another mesh to continue sculpting with the same brush, to only realize (after destroying the other side of the mesh) that selecting another mesh you have to go and re select the Front-facing vertex only option again to work on that mesh. Would be nice if there was an option that keeps that setting for the entire scene, rather than individual meshes.
But if there is a way to enable this, please let me know. Thank you!
Doesn’t it keep it enabled if you do it like this?

YES! sorry, you are correct, what I actually want is for all brushes to have this set by default basically. Thats what I was having issue with, going from one brush to another and this not being active.
Could be nice to have an option to open Nomad, make changes to the scene like if you wanted to open with a cube instead of a sphere. Or make specific changes in general. Then save the presets. So this way I would in fact go through all my brushes and make sure front facing vertex is checked.
For some reason I really was thinking that when selecting another mesh, the same brush would also have this option unchecked.

All the brush settings are per brushes, not per object.
A few settings are global, like the protect area settings if “all” is ticked, “use global pressure” or “share radius”.
Note that you can save the tool preset if you click on the icon in the toolbox. The tool are never saved automatically unlike most other settings in the interface. People tend to break tools when they fiddle with settings, so I prefer to reset them by default.
Minor thing but front-facing has no falloff, sometimes the “normal filter” option below with [min:0, max:90] can get a better result. I suppose it’s a bit similar than the backface masking option in zbrush.
Some settings are:
- per object (e.g: material menu)
- per project (post process, lighting, camera)
- per brush (all of them in the tool menu)
- global (interface, gesture, camera, etc)

An easy indicator that may help is putting the Front Facing Vertex button on your shortcuts toolbar. Then you can always see if it’s enabled and it makes it easier to enable/disable.
