Beginner question: Painted holes turn white after texture baking

Hi!

Beginner to Nomad here. Thanks to Holger_Schoenischka on this forum, I’m slowly finding my workflow in Nomad.

I work with scanned objects captured in Polycam, which I then clean up and edit in Nomad Sculpt. To repair areas the scan missed, I use Close Holes, and then I paint color on those hole-filled areas since they don’t have texture data.

Everything looks fine while working:

  • Painting works (although the color never seems to cover 100%)

  • Decimation works fine

  • The model looks correct before export

However, when I Bake → Texture (which I need to do to reduce file size before exporting to glTF), all the painted information on the hole-filled areas disappears, and those areas turn white again.

When trying to paint after rebaking the texture the paint also goes through some objects to the back (See video)

Unfortunately, I’ve already edited and painted a lot of files before realizing this.
Does anyone know what’s causing this, and if there’s a way to fix it without having to redo everything from scratch?

Any help or workflow tips would be greatly appreciated — thanks!

The filled patches don’t have any uv, you need to unwrap the mesh again.

Simply use “uv unwrap - atlas”. Nomad will also reproject all the previous texture after the new uv unwrap.
