Hey @stephomi the mask option in the symmetry tab is not working. when I mask a certain part of the object and turn on the mask button in the symmetry tab it’s not working.

It’s not working because your mesh topology is not 100% symmetrical.
It only works for symmetrical topology - read info text.
But I thought the point of the mask was that we would be able to mirror a specific part of the topology while the masked part remains the same. The mask button in the symmetry tab is supposed to prevent the mirroring of the masked area, if I’m not wrong?
You need a topology like this - a symmetrical topology.
If you have e.g. a voxel remeshed topology it fails.

I see…but when I tried to do it by using quadremesher first to get clean and symmetrical topology, it did not work.
Have you checked to make sure your model is centered on world center? The model being asymmetrical is one thing, but being off center can play total havoc.
No, what I was trying to say is that @Holger_Schoenischka said if I have a voxel remeshed topology, the mask button will not work. So I was trying to quad remesh to get clean and symmetrical topology, hoping it would solve the problem, but it didn’t work, and it still enforced symmetry over the masked area.
I checked and it is in the world center. The symmetry is also in the world center.
Solving this thread, you cannot enforce symmetry and freezing part of the mesh.
You enforce symmetry by deleting one half of the mesh, there is nothing to freeze after that.
I see…then how come you can freeze and enforce symmetry simultaneously, as @Holger_Schoenischka showed when you have a clean topology (not voxel remeshed)?
I already explain above:
You don’t have to use quad remesher, just mirroring with the popup first will enforce symmetry.
But Nomad cannot detect symmetry if the mesh as disconnected floating part, to verify if that’s the vase you separate the mesh first.
You need to enforce symmetry first (if you see a popup that asks for confirmation it means Nomad could not detect the symmetry so it will cut & mirror instead).
If there is no popup then symmetry has been detected and mask is supported.
If you always see the popup then it’s likely you got disconnected parts or something off about the mesh (Nomad fails at detecting symmetry, it’s a limitation).
