Is there actually a way to use split mirror in the symmetry menu to obtain two meshes? As separate meshes: 1. the split mesh 2. the mirrored mesh → not merged! I need a split on the symmetry plane …

Not possible indeed.
For simple axis aligned symmetry with a single plane you can use the split tool with polygon and snap.
Otherwise if I were to add the feature it would need to handle multiple plane for consistency, potential creating 4 or 8 meshes.
In that case it could be an extra “separate by mirror” option (without necessary applying the mirror, but I don’t know if that would be useful)

The intended use is, for example, for picture frames or tube profiles, etc. – I can think of many use cases …
In my opinion, it would be a useful option.
I have often been asked how to cut a mesh precisely along the mirror axis… here is one way to do it.

Hello, good evening. I have tried the desktop demo. It would be interesting if we could have in the final version, the pop-up windows not fixed, because in my case I have two monitors and it would be great to have them on one monitor and on the other the image we are working on.
