The next step from curve repeaters and array repeaters. Surface repeaters!
Being able to repeat an object along a surface in all directions along a surface.
This for example is really handy if you want to repeat objects along an uneven curved surface. Like a blanket or a piece of clothing (chain mail fe) or cloth in general. Or organic things like animals/creatures. (Scales, spikes, etc)
I was about to write up a feature request for a scatter repeater, but found this here already.
Similar to the curve repeater, if a surface repeater was made a child of an object, any children of the repeater itself would be distributed over the surface.
In its default mode it would repeat the object per vertex, or if a ‘count’ option were enabled, it would scatter x amount of objects evenly over the parent surface.
Ideally you would also have extra controls for randomisation for scale and orientation, and the amount of that randomisation. By default objects would be oriented along the surface normal.
Maybe the curve repeater could be incorporated into this tool, so there’s one surface/curve repeater to rule them all?
