You can use any painting app to produce those matcaps. I used Infinite Painter.

Try also loading regular textures as MatCaps, it can produce some really funky sculpt effects. I love playing with this Shader. They’re just essentially the HDRI background’s in PBR but in more variety. Try also importing MatCap’s into HDRI PBR - that’s got some awesome visual effects when you apply paint.

If stepping from one camera view to another would respect camera speed adjustments at least….how much one could do already!
A view playback playing though all views so you don’t have to have camera menu open and the fun could begin.

Low stroke intensity
Use layer brush, or lasso mask and move to change depth of some stones.

Unfortunately I got shadow issues when AO and reflections are switched on.

Came up on discord today - mimicking this zBrush Matcap.
But zBrush matcaps are more than pure matcaps. Curvature and cavity can be manipulated as well.
