Reproject vertices from itself from Base Layer

When you work on a Layer reproject vertices from itself is grayed out.

Would it be possible to add a option to reproject the vertices when you work on a layer to reproject the vertices from base layer, so that you don’t need a clone mesh ?

So, when you smooth out a new layer then you could reproject the offset / texture of the base layer to the new layer without cloning the mesh.
