Masking/sculpt potential bug

I’m still somewhat new to Nomad but I’m not sure what is happening with my sculpt after the update to 1.68. I masked off the face so I could work on sculpting the hair and then when I reversed the mask, his face was filled with lines. When I try to smooth them out with the smooth or flatten tool, they get fixed until I zoom out and rotate the model, then they are back.

Any advice would be wonderful as this is a project I had hoped to finish yesterday afternoon :-/

I was using the clay and brush tools with a hair texture alpha mask with Dynamic Topology enabled and protect masked area checked.

I don’t understand what that means.
It looks like you sculpt accidentally on the mesh.
