How do I model in front view and only have controls for sculpting front only?

Hello all,

I hope this isn’t a dumb question but I wanted to know or find out.

How do I model a cube or any shape from a reference image from front view and be able to only move/re-size/rotate/extrude front ways and not in perspective mode - but only within it’s constraints of front view or say top or side, the one you are working in. I hope this makes sense.

I know you can create camera view layers and snap them, but can someone give me more of an idea of how I can model solely in that view? As when I do this, the object spins out of the view or the view changes that I’m working in.

I hope I’m not missing something as I know in other software you can do this like say Maya 3D etc.

Thanks.

When you have the view set where you want it, push and hold on the view cube. It will lock the view.

Hey thanks for replying RogerRoger

But the controls like move/resize/rotate and spin in all directions.

Like it’s not the same as modelling in front view in Maya 3D?

I need the actual object(s) to not move within that view.

You may be looking for something like the Silhouette function in the Brush Settings.

E.g. Lock your View → maybe Front View

Then activate checkbox Silhouette in the Brush Settings ….

I know what you mean, just adjust the camera speed all the way to 0! Provided you’ve set the correct view position.
