Facegroups dont work for UV mapping

In the UV Unwrap UVAtlas and BFF gear options, there is an option to select face groups as if to imply that the facegroups would represent different UV islands and ultimately where the UV seams edges will at least be. Or the very least influence the outcome of the UV map. But doesn’t seem to do anything remotely close to the facegroups on the lowpoly.

Or is there something I am missing?

It should work.
If you really want to exactly have one patch (connected) per group, even at the cost of high distortion:
For UVAtlas, raise the “stretch” value.
For BFF, check “seamless patch”.
