THE PLATFORM: Windows
NOMAD APP VERSION: 2.9.8
Hi,
Today I lost all my interface customizations in Nomad Sculpt:
- the shortcuts I had added to the bottom toolbar
- and my custom floating toolbars (with my own buttons)
Everything disappeared at once and the UI went back to default.
I did not intentionally reset the settings, and I did not manually delete any configuration file.
I also tried restarting Nomad and Windows just in case, but it did not fix the issue.
Is there any way to restore these customizations?
For example by recovering a config file, a backup of the Nomad folder, or something similar?
Useful info:
- Device: Windows
- Nomad version: 2.9.8
Thanks in advance for any help!
Do you use a custom nomad folder? (For example using a cloud folder)
The file is named settings.json and is at the root.
I don’t know how it got deleted. I guess maybe an invalid settings.json was written. Do you remember some of the last thing you did before loosing it? Especially around naming tool (for example using special character)
Note that the settings are always embedded in every nom project files.
Simply go in the import settings and toggle “keep gui settings” then load any recently saved project, it will load the settings as well (you can turn it off afterwards).
Hi,
Yes, I do use a custom Nomad folder.
I tried to import the settings.json file into Nomad, but the import interface options stay greyed out and I cannot select it.
I often import a .nom file to bring an environment and some meshes into my current scene.
My last operation (I think) was importing a .glb (or maybe an .stl, I am not sure) into my current scene, and I unchecked the option to keep the environment (it was enabled before).
It seems that this is when my custom interface was lost.
I did not rename any tool.
In my Nomad folder I do have a settings.json file and a bindings.json file (64 KB and 61 KB).
I guess these are the right ones, but Nomad does not want to open or import them (…/Nomad sculpt/settings.json, they are not inside the Data folder).
I do not see how to reload them.
- you cannot import settings.json, if it’s already at the root there is nothing to do, it’s already in used
- I don’t know what you mean by environment, in Nomad an environment is a exr or hdri images.
- how to fix your issue: load any project old enough (before you lost your settings) but make sure to enable keep gui settings before that (it also works with internal projects, not just external import). The settings.json is embedded in every nom files (glb as well) at the time of saving. So unless you never saved any project, it should be very easy to find back your settings, just check the option and load your nom/glb files until you got the correct settings back.
Maybe at some point you enabled this option by mistake and it overrode your settings.
