Cursor disappeared when using pen

Before the update when i brought the pen close to the screen without touching It i saw the two rings that indicated the areas of interaction with the sculpture, now after the update they are no longer visible. How can i solve It?

Xiaomi Pad 6 with original stilus

I have the same issue on pad 6.
Very annoying and unusable. I hope this gets fixed soon.

The distance from the pen and screen is used to modulate the opacity.
But Android being a mess, nothing is consistant across devices.
Works fine with the spen and Samsung tab.

The circle is not visible at all on hover? Only when fully pressed?

Hey,
it’s not the distance thing. It doesn’t show even while sculpting or even hitting the shortcut on keyboard to adjust size. While using the pen or finger to sculpt, the cursor disapears . I’ve added a video I hope it helps:

It’s the correct default behaviour and it always has been since day one.
There is an option “show circle while sculpting” in the settings (gear icons), it’s disabled on your screen.
On your video you didn’t change the radius, only the intensity, so no reason to show the circle.

No clue what you guys are talking about honestly, are you talking about the red circle?

exactly I’m referring to the red circle, where before this latest update it was enough to pass the pen a centimeter away from the display to be able to see the circle on the screen and see the interaction area, now instead it no longer appears when you pass the pen or even during the touch when you model.

Thank you for the quick response.
So I guess the option turned off after the update on it’s own but the behaviour is weird and it seems your first guess was right and it is a distance from pen and screen issue. While using shortcut on keyboard for adjusting size of brush the red circle thing doesnt show on screen. Before you could hover pen around and see the circle. This allows me to determin how big or small the detailing or volume I’m sculpting gonna be so without it it’s troublesom. I don’t know maybe there is an option for that as well that just was disabled after update? the circle shows with adjusting it manually.
Here’s a video:

No it’s just that I used to ignore the hover distance but now I take it into account, like on iOS.

My initial guess would be that xiaomi tab s6 pencil only supports binary hover distance instead of real distance.
I’ll try something but if it doesn’t work I’ll ask you to log the hover distance values in the nomad log menu (unfortunately it will have to wait a bit since currently the log option doesn’t show hover distance, only x, y, pressure, size and stylus button).

I’m search if there is an app on Google Play that can quickly show these values but can’t find one at the moment.

oh ok thank you. Any way to revert back to last update until we wait for the log option? If you found the app let us know as well. thanks.
Here’s also a video on krita. The hovering works fine.

No revert possible.
“Working fine”, there’s no stuffs depending on hover distance in your video so it doesn’t tell me if the xiaomi pencil supports it.

Yeah then I don’t think I have anything to help anymore. I’m sorry.
But why the new Nomad update caused this? No way for a quick fix? Please let me know when we could expect the fix as I have some projects on Nomad that I really want to get back to :))

Thank you so much for your promptness and speed in solving the problem in a short time .

You have created a wonderful application and you manage it impeccably.

It was solved?
I made an update but not sure about the fix.

If it’s not fixed you can enable Debug → “Dev: Log events” and “Logs”.
It will print some pencil info in the log (“height” is the one I would need to know)

Hey,
Yes it’s acting normal now with the update. So thanks for that. ( Still don’t know why an update caused this).
There is no height info though. Let me know if there’s anything I could help with.

I told you, previous Nomad version were ignoring the pencil height.
I assumed that pencil that supports hover would always send correct height, but turned out some pencil only send 0 (on screen) and 1 (hover).

There is likely height information sent but Nomad forces the height to 0 if the values sent by the pencil are 0 and 1, that’s why you see only 0 (the debug thing was mostly in case my fix wouldn’t work).
