I am a bit shocked how complicated it is to create a fairly simple asset such as this pipe ( amplified my ADHD ).
First problem is to make a perfect angled tube. It’s a guessing game. So I am wondering if we will ever get a 2D grid snap option. If not, maybe a colored line once’s the tube line hits 45 or 90 degrees, given that the points are set to linear and view is 2D ( orthographic) .
The next step would be to build directly on that pipe. For example, adding a cylinder on top should be straightforward—without needing workarounds. Every 3D application supports some form of snapping (even ZBrush lets you insert a mesh at the center of a face). Nomad already has pivot functionality, so it really just needs a “snap-to-target-pivot” feature: select the first object, select the second, snap!
Of course, I might just be an ignorant artist talking out of my a… But in theory, the insert mesh function could use the existing “align pivot to mask” feature to define a snapping point. It would require making a mask selection, but I think that’s still an acceptable step.
I’d also like to reiterate a previously mentioned request, as it would significantly improve workflow: adding a shortcut to toggle point merging for the tube tool.
This becomes especially important when working from a distance, with dense point distributions, or from angles where points visually overlap. A quick toggle would allow for more efficient editing without constant menu navigation.
