Split line crash

Bug reports split line crashed every time I tried to cut a bevel on a low poly box. Tried it 10 times and each with the same result to make sure

So I open new file
Add box
Scale to 47
Select lo poly and validate
Then select trim tool
Crash

I have had the same problem but it only happened after I was able to use the split tool successfully for a while. Did you find out how to fix it yet or have gotten a reply from the devs?
