Hi. Been having trouble with the gizmo tool causing a crash when trying to input a numerical value. The gizmo tool seems to work fine free-hand, but consistently crashes if attempting numerical input.
Hello, I tried it again today and no luck. When I select a facegroup on tap and mask the surrounding region, I am able to drag and manipulate but if I tap the arrow on the gizmo and try and add a numerical value, nomad closes. Any update on this would be great. We utilize your wonderful software for prosthetics and orthotics and that accuracy is very important. Thank You!
Iām still having issues with numerical input causing crashes as well. It seems somewhat intermittent but happens most of the time in both scaling and move numerical inputs will crash. Especially with a mask applied.
Iām on the iPad Pro and running v 2.8 - To clarify it did seem to improve with the 2.6 release, but has been intermittent since 2.8
I recently tried the same operation on the latest PC version and had no issues - but the ipad continues to crash and I much prefer working on the ipad.
I need more information⦠whatās your ios version?
Does it happen with every popup (rename mesh popup? just gizmo input? which gizmo values, etc). If it only happens with certain mesh/values then I need to see the mesh matrix values in the gizmo menu.
Do you use the alternative dialog (interface ā use nomad dialog), if not does the crash still happen?
Now that it is mentioned, I have also noticed crashes yesterday when I tried to scale through gizmo and hit nr by accident, it crashed. Had a couple of crashes yesterday, but donāt know anymore what I was doing exactly for it to happen, running on an iPad and latest version of Nomad.
Will keep it in mind when it happens again and will let you know.
Iām on iOS 26.2.1 on an iPad Pro 12.9 6th gen, but I also work with folks on the 12.9 3rd gen and 7th gen Pro models.
No it does not crash on any other pop-up that I have found. Just the gizmo numerical input. The numerical input will occasionally work if there is no mask and if you save right before applying the gizmo mod, but thatās not consistent. It almost always crashes if a mask is applied and it will crash with any gizmo modification (scaling, translation, rotation, etc). The crashes never happen when applying gizmo modifications by hand.
I have also had success applying āgizmo modificationsā by using the numerical input in the Operation - Matrix tab. For instance, I can successfully non-uniformly apply numerical scales by tapping the values in within the Operations - Matrix tab but if I do the same operation on the gizmo tool, we see a crash. The downside is that those gizmo inputs apply to the whole model and do not respect masks but thatās our workaround for now, but half my workflow is using gizmo modifications with masking applied.
I was originally trying to use the native dialog and just tried the Nomad dialog and had the same issue when a mask is applied. However, it does not crash if no mask is applied to the model.
Hopefully this helps clarify. Iām happy to provide any other information needed. - Thank you for your hard work on this amazing program!
I just started with Nomad and the tutorials from OPDD. Itās great and I have patients to use it with right away. I also have an iPad Pro 12.9ā generation 3 with OS 26.2.1 that crashes when entering numerical values in the gizmo tool. What are you doing until a solution is found? That control is necessary.
Go to āInterface - use nomad dialogā (check that box) was helpful and at least allows scaling and movement but only works without masks. It still crashes with masking.
Alternatively go to the āOperation - Matrixā tab with the gizmo tool selected. Under the āPivotā tool hit the ācenterā and āalignā buttons to place the gizmo in the location and orientation you want relative to the model. Then go to the Operation āMatrixā area to bake pivot. You can then independently scale or move in the x,y,z with numerical input - but it does not respect masks. If you arenāt careful about baking pivot location then itāll mess with scaling since all movements and scaling are relative to the location and orientation of the gizmo tool, so reposition and bake accordingly.
The current work-around the masking problem is make a copy of the original (always a good practice anyhow). Then make a total volumetric reduction with no masks (maintaining relative position to the original model). Then mask everything but the area you want to build back up to the original position - and use the gizmo tool to pull the model back to the original volume by hand since the gizmo tool seems to apply scaling and movement with a mask as long as youāre not using numerical input. Using X-ray is really helpful here.
Another trick for buildups is to make sphere the radius that you want to build up to - then use transform to place the center of the sphere on the model - then move the gizmo tool (by hand) to match the height of the sphere (remember the radius of the sphere should be the desired buildup height since the transform tool should be set to place the center of the sphere on the model)⦠clunky but it works and is still more accurate than using a nail and plaster.
