We already have face groups and they’re awesome. However, I’m wondering if there’s a way to make them better. Sets. Here’s an example:
Suppose that you’re working on a humanoid. You’ve created groups representing each finger, the palm, the forearm, the bicep, the pecs, the neck, etc. Basically, you’ve broken down the whole character into pieces. WHAT IF… What if, as with object grouping, you could have named/saved sets of face groups?
IOW, I might have a set that represents the fingers, palm, & forearm. Selecting that set would allow me to manipulate (via gizmo/pivot) that entire section only WITHOUT disturbing/changing/breaking my original sub-groups of fingers, palm, & forearm. Using that logic, I could gizmo/pivot the character at the waist to bend or twist them by selecting an “upper body” set that represents those component face groups.
Basically? Sub-groups of face sets.
I’m not sure if this already exists. Maybe I’m missing something. Either way, I don’t think that this even exists in ZBrush either; Not as far as I remember.
Ideally, it’d also be great to be able save & name these and any/all face groups. Kinda like how Photoshop allows saved & named selections. Again, I don’t know if this already exists, but I’m asking. lol
Right now, I think that face groups are awesome & invaluable. I’m just trying to figure out how to make them more robust & conceptually more in line with what we might have in terms of selection manipulation/storage in Photoshop.
Just an idea.
