Auto Lock option for Group node children

I want to use the Insert tool to place many hair or fur pieces onto a mesh. However, I want to avoid snapping to the other fur tubes. I only want snapping to work on the main object.

So my idea was to lock only the group node. Ideally, if the group node is locked, all objects that are automatically created inside this group should also be locked for snapping. In other words, an auto-lock function for newly created objects within a locked group.

Would something like this be possible?

Yeah group nodes should probably handle locking the same way it handles visibility.

However, I suspect that my feature request still wouldn’t work, even if the group node behaved the same way as visibility. Because when using the Insert tool, the objects automatically jump out of the locked group node and become children of the snapping mesh. So in the end, it isn’t possible to insert objects on a mesh and keep the inserted clones / instances within the locked group node…

The logic of the Insert tool’s behavior prevents Insert-tool clones or instances from being kept inside a group node.

The Insert Tool should have an option to choose whether the inserted object becomes a child of the snapping mesh or remains inside a group node instead, rather than automatically being parented to the snapping mesh.

Yes - thanks.

New version has now auto lock option for group nodes !
