There is still no official support for 3d mouse but 2.9 might improve support a bit.
So you can try to update and enabling ā€œjoystickā€ in the binding → advanced menu.

Just tried that, it detects forward/backward movement okayish, but nothing else.

I hope this feature will be implemented!

I would love to work with my Spacemouse as well.

Spacemouse…. date 17-2-2026

On windows the following settings apparently worked.
But I don’t know if it works everywhere, I don’t have a device myself to test it out.

Ps: it’s possible that mapping will change again next update. 3ds space mouse also has something ā€œkmj emulatorā€ (Keyboard Mouse Joystickā€ on top of the ā€œspace mouseā€ inputs thing, and Nomad might try to handle both… I’ll try to tweak things

for me it sadly did not. Am on the newest update

This suddenly started working for me. I’m pretty sure it wasn’t working in 2.9.3 on Windows but I honestly haven’t tried in awhile. I just updated to 2.9.5 and it is now working. It’s not 100%, still a little stutter on some moves like rolling forward and backwards but it’s close enough for me and I’m super excited about this!

Maybe try to disable the ā€œdead zoneā€ in the Bindings → advanced menu.
I’ll probably remove this option.

I have Nomad for iPad and I’m very impressed with it’s ease of use, especially in combination with the Apple pencil. So, I just downloaded Nomad for my PC, where I do most of my sculpting with a Spacemouse and a graphics tablet. The Spacemouse works flawlessly with Meshmixer but in Nomad several movements do not respond well. As it stands, it is not useable. I did notice a better performance when selecting all the ā€œDead Zone (drift)ā€ options but it’s far short of the control I have in an ancient program like Meshmixer. I hope this issue can be resolved soon so I can use Nomad to it’s full potential.

No it won’t get resolved, just try to play with the settings (set drift to 0 for spacemouse).
ā€œdo not respondā€ is also a bit vague, you can change the binding as well.

I appreciate you replying here so quickly and I’m sorry to learn that this won’t get resolved. I’ve tried what you suggested but without any noticeable change. I’m running the latest version of Nomad. Perhaps I was a little vague in my previous message, to be more specific; the x and y axis only rotate 180 degrees not 360 or limitless turns as in other applications. Even then, the movement is difficult to control and slightly juddery. Up/Down and sideways movements are sluggish and travel in a slightly diagonal plane. The same applies to zoom in/out. I have played around with different settings but to no avail. I certainly don’t want to be negative about Nomad sculpt, I think it’s great and I prefer it to ZBrush which I still use for professional jobs but only because I can use the Spacemouse and therefore work much quicker.

Update #1: I have continued to play with the settings and I’ve found that selecting only the ā€œspacemouseā€ and ā€œbuttonā€ in the bindings advanced menu and setting the drift to ā€œ0ā€ for both gives the smoothest movement. Zoom in/out and up/down work perfectly. Turning the object is a mixed bag; turning on the Y-axis allows infinite turns, X-axis gives 180 degrees (90 each direction, with slight judder) and Z-axis does not turn at all. Although this doesn’t give the level of control I’m used to with the spacemouse, it is relatively easy to navigate quickly to any area of the object.

Update #2: Having focussed on getting the navigation with the spacemouse as good as possible, I have now discovered that the sculpting brushes do not work. If I disconnect the spacemouse they work fine.

Did you change bindings for it to work or only set drift to 0?

I only set the drift to ā€œ0ā€ for both ā€œButtonā€ & ā€œSpacemouseā€ and selected both for the navigation to work quite well. However, in my case the sculpt brushes appear to be switched off whilst the Spacemouse is connected (via USB).

In Nomad you cannot sculpt while the camera is moving.

If drift is 0 then tiny movement with the space mouse might still register as camera movement, so the camera is technically moving.

Yes! That was it, thanks :+1: . I set drift to 0.01 and the motion is fluid and sculpt tools work.

Ok, thanks for reply. For me, for some reason, only zoom works

Are you running the latest version of the software? I now have the drift set at 0.01 for both ā€œButtonā€ & ā€œSpacemouseā€ because set at 0 it prevented the brushes/tools from working.

Yes, I’m on Nomad 2.9.7 and this is my spacemouse version
