RaZum_inc Sculpts

Just out of curiosity, why do you use textures / alphas with 2048 pixels with a brush - so the brush has over 40 MB. More than 512 pixels make no sense with a stroke-based brush.

Hi @Holger you mean for Alpha?

No also for the colored textures. Have you tried it ? With a brush with stroke and randomness, the 2k textures tend to slow down. I use 512 pixel textures or max. 1024 for such brushes. You would need 4 million vertices on the brush radius to see a difference. You save a lot of file size and don’t lose any quality.
Stamp brushes are something else.
I changed the textures from your very nice bronze brush to 512 pixels and don’t see any difference in quality, but the brush is just about 3MB.

Thank you @Holger! I When I created the brushes, I thought about future updates of Nomad and the new generation of iPad with M3. As a foundation for the future. Since I realy don’t want to make a texture less than 2K. And it’s even better if there’s more 8K :innocent:
But you are right, if there is no difference in quality, I will make a separate optimized version.it is necessary to optimize for current generations, I will definitely need to test the textures size! Very grateful for your feedback!

The mesh can only accommodate one color per vertex, so there is no use in using hires textures. The example mesh has 2.5 million vertices, but for the brush texture you only need 90x90 pixels to color all vertices - so the other 1900 pixels have no use - in the area of the brush. So with 512 x 512 you can color half of the face.

I guess textures that are larger than 512 pixels first make sense with mesh denses of 15-20 million and more, and then 1024 pixels are easily sufficient.

But of course I will also continue to test.

@Holger_Schoenischka Interesting, I remember @stephomi saying that the texture is resize automatically in any case. Does this apply to regular textures, or are they used as is?

HDRs and matcaps are resized but not other images.

I got these brushes. I want to be able to also do this kind of more organic clay style work. So far I’m finding them to be great tools for even the more polished types of work. I can’t wait to try them out properly on future pieces. Thank you for creating these I love that we can make the clay look so realistic, before 3d I was modeling with clay and sculpy so this makes nomad even more versatile for me :+1:t4::+1:t4:

It looks simply amazing. Just out of curiosity - how many vertices do you need in order to make the brushes look like this? I’m asking, because I’m on a “lower end” Android device (Samsung Galaxy Tab S7 FE (4 GB of RAM)) which starts to tank at around 3 mio verts.

Thank you! I start between 1m and maybe higher. But brushes works even on lower settings from 100k.
