I am an avid aircraft model maker, and have been doing so for the past 54 years. I started way back as a kid making plastic models, and developed that process through my life, these are very typically in 1/72, 1/48, 1/32 and 1/24 scale. After moving to the U.K. from South Africa 22 years ago I started a very small model company mainly trading in kits etc. However I soon started making some basic parts for aircraft models that I could then clone in silicone and resin, these were all hand made and in the good old fashioned way. I started selling these and got quite successful in doing so and do that business for about 15 years.
I then stopped for a few years through circumstances, and then restated about 4 1/2 years ago with my new venture Aerocraft Models, doing some very similar aftermarket resin, and brass cast parts. A little more than 2 years ago I ventured into 3D CAD, and printing. I work on an iPad based package called Shapr3D, to me it is fantastic and has revolutionised how and what I can make. I still have lots to learn but it is so good to be getting Into ways of creating such accurate and detailed models.
I recently stumbled across this Nomad sculpt, watched some videos and thought wow for the price I need to try it, so here I am, however I am really struggling to get to grips with this and all the terminology, it is not like anything else I have done before, I can see the great potential it could offer me but after watching many videos I am still very LOST.
It would be great if I could be shown where to get good starting instructions and where and how to learn the basic’s. My main mission is to develop and make parts and do not need lighting of fancy colour techniques etc.
