Is there a way to permanently change the orientation of the pivot for a given object? I would like to be able to do this so when using local symmetry it operates based on the changed orientation. Right now it always defaults back to the original orientation no matter what I do to the pivot.

While using the Gizmo tool, there are to buttons on the side toolbar:

- Align: toggles on/off and makes it so the pivot is based off world axes
- Pivot: can adjust the pivot point and angles for the object.

Also, in the Symmetry menu, there a Gizmo Edit at the bottom that will change the symmetry point.

Thanks RogerRoger, that button in the Symmetry menu did the trick. Exactly what I wanted.
